Let’s be friends!

TWH’s Mission

The whole mission of this shop is to spread kindness and love. Let’s be more like Jesus. Everyone has different beliefs and that’s welcome here! This is an inclusive, positive environment where people can meet new friends, share prayer requests, find unique hodgepodgery and just be. Let’s not let the world lessen our whimsy. Here’s to friendship!

Our Mission of Chronic Illness Awareness

Chronic illness can be lonely. I have Psoriatic Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Anxiety/Depression & PMDD (so far! Ha!) My story started in 2011 and it has been a ride. If you’re curious, you can read my blog! It’s the third entry (June 2020). You dwell inside your mind and body more when it changes dramatically and can let you down anytime. You quickly learn not to take average abilities, like walking or folding laundry or opening a jar, for granted. It’s true, you don’t know until you know. I just want to make myself available for anyone who needs it because you aren’t alone. – Amanda

I’ve been rocking the “too many symptoms, too few diagnoses” lifestyle from a young age. It took me about 20 years to get my fibromyalgia diagnosis! Combined with a missing chronic migraine and POTS diagnosis (plus food sensitivities throwing fuel on the inflammation bonfire), I suffered from a lot of anxiety over the years from simply not knowing what was wrong with my body. The first time a provider mentioned fibromyalgia and POTS to me, I didn’t think it sounded like me. Over time, I realized just how textbook my symptoms were! That’s why I care so much about awareness and education, as well as chronic illness and disability representation. We all deserve more knowledge and understanding and less stigma. – Cait

Owner and Founder of The Wandering Homebody, Amanda

Amanda

Founder & Owner

Hi, y’all! I’m Amanda! I’m obsessed with cute, comfy clothes, unique treasures & great deals, so here we are! I buy too many things and take over my house with them. That is really how I would describe my Homebody role!

I love red pandas, all things book related, plaid, patchwork, gluten free baked goods, bracelets, headbands & coconut milk lattes.  Also, it’s true, I’m a passionate homebody!

You’ll notice a ton of oversized tops here because I LOVE THEM. I think I’d be described as a boho, casual/comfy, hippy-ish old lady?

Let’s spread kindness and love, my friends! ✌️

TWH's Shop Assistant Extraordinare, Cait

Cait

Shop Assistant Extraordinaire

Well hello, I didn’t see you there! I’m Cait. As shop assistant (extraordinaire), I manage the website, assist with adding inventory and design original print on demand clothing and merchandise for The Wandering Homebody, including chronic illness awareness designs. Since I’m disabled from chronic illness, I am extra passionate about this. I love to use stock images to make quirky new combinations for fun clothes, too.

Style-wise, I lean towards boho (with a dash of whimsigoth/ren faire) looks. Frankie Bergstein is my warm weather style guru. We both have a lot of bracelets and flowing garments! For winter, though, my look is best described as “cold dog-walker chic.” I also have way too many miniature food earrings. (Or should I say just enough?!) They’re my favorite accessory.

You can check out some of my designs under Homebody Originals and Chronic Illness Awareness!
